Iowa Association USATF Youth Cross Country State
Meet
On November 4, the Iowa Association USATF Youth Cross Country State Meet will
be held at Valley Southwoods Freshman High School in West Des Moines. The youth meet
is for athletes ages 18 and under, and will be staged in 4 races. A 3K (1.86 miles)
race for ages 10 and under will begin promptly at 1:00pm, followed by a 3K race for
ages 11 & 12 at 1:30pm, a 4K (2.48 miles) race for ages 13 and 14 at 2:00pm,
and a 5K (3.1 miles) for ages 15 to 18 at 2:30pm.
There will be ten age/gender groups competing in the four youth races. 10 & under
girls, 10 & under boys, 11-12 girls, 11-12 boys, 13-14 girls, 13-14 boys, 15-16
girls, 15-16 boys, 17-18 girls and 17-18 boys. Age group determination is based on
your age at 12/31/07. Teams may compete, but are not required for participation.
A team must have at least 5 but no more than 8 members of the same age/gender group.
The entry fee is $10. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged but race day registration
is allowed, and will begin at 11:00am. USATF membership is not required. Entry forms

Iowa Association USATF Open/Masters Cross Country State Meet
On November 4, the Iowa Association USATF Open/Masters Cross Country State Meet
will be held at Valley Southwoods Freshman High School in West Des Moines. The meet
is for those ages 19 and older, and will be contested over a 5K cross country race
course. The race is scheduled to begin at 3:00pm, immediately following the Iowa
Association USATF Youth Cross Country Meet, so bring your young runners to compete
in the youth event. Or kids, bring your parents along to run in the Open Masters
event. This event is for both the competitive at heart and those who simply enjoy
the workout and challenge of a good off-road run.
The Open Division is for ages 19 to 30. The Masters Division is for ages 31 and up,
with five year age groups (31-35, 36-40, and so on). Age group determination is based
on your age at 12/31/07. Though there will be both men’s and women’s divisions in
all age groups, all entrants will run at the same time.
