Asics Running Socks to the first 1500 who pick up their packets.
Friends and relatives of entrants can pick up runner packets.
Friday 4 to 7 p.m., April 25 at Drake Fine Arts Center, Carpenter & 25th Street, adjacent to the finish area, enter via the southwest corner.
Saturday 7 to 7:30 a.m., April 26 at the Drake Fine Arts Center (shirt size not guaranteed race day and socks maybe gone).

RACE SHIRT:
All entrants receive a short sleeve 50/50 shirt with a 3-color front logo.

START: 8 AM.
Adjacent to Drake Stadium on Forest Avenue east of 28th Street. For the safety of all 8 Kilometer & Half-Marathon runners: no early starts, baby joggers, bicycles, rollerblades, listening devices skateboards or animals are allowed on the Half-Marathon or 8 Kilometer course.

8 Kilometer is 4.97 miles, the course is protected for an 11 minute pace, the finish line closes at 9 a.m.
USA T&F certified course on out & back route, mostly flat. All miles marked, splits & display clocks every mile and 4 water stations.

HALF-MARATHON COURSE: . . . . .

The Half-Marathon is 13.1 miles, the course is protected for an 11 minute pace, the finish line closes at 10:30 a.m.
USA T&F certified course with mile 3 through 11 rolling, the last two miles are flat. All miles marked, splits & display clocks at 1, 2, 5 & 10 miles and 10 water stations.
A challenging, tree lined and park like course that runners have consistently enjoyed and considered the best Half-Marathon course in Iowa.

FINISH:
Both the Half-Marathon and 8 Kilometer finish near 25th & Carpenter Avenue adjacent to the Drake's Fine Arts Building, two blocks from Drake Stadium. Medical, refreshments, osteopathic treatments by Des Moines University, showers and the awards ceremony are all near the finish.

TEMPERATURE:
Average starting temperature 46 degrees. It rained hard in 2002 and lighter in 2006, race day has been perfect for running 10 of the past 12 years.

POST RACE:
Top 3 male & female - - 8 Kilometer Awards at 9:15 a.m. & Half-Marathon Awards at 10:15 a.m. on the lawn area just west of the finish line. Results posted by 10 a.m. (8 Kilometer) and 11 a.m. (Half-Marathon), please pick up awards by 11 a.m.
Shower facilities available 9 to 11 a.m. (free) at the Bell Center on 27th Street north of Forest Avenue (east of the stadium), bring your own towel.

2007 RESULTS:
The weather was 49 degrees at the start, a perfect day for 693 half-marathon finishers and 845 eight Kilometer finishers. Records were set in eight age divisions including a open records in the Half-Marathon. Look up last year's results at

OVERALL AWARDS:
Overall winner of the 8 Kilometer & Half Marathon, both male & female receive the 98th edition of the Drake Relays watch and Nike $100 gift certificate.

CASH AWARDS (open & age division):
Top open finishers of the 8 Kilometer & Half-Marathon, both male & female receive first-$300, second-$150 and third-$100. $100 award bonus for Iowan who wins 8 Kilometer & Half-Marathon male or female.
Age Division $100 awards will be given to the first runner beating 8 Kilometer records or Half-Marathon records in the following age divisions.
8 Kilometer Men: Open, 23:40; 35-39, 24:15; 40-44, 24:29; 45-49, 26:59; 50-54, 28:09; 55-59, 28:56; 60 plus, 32:11 and Women: Open, 27:39; 35-39, 28:06; 40-44, 30:21; 45-49, 29:47; 50 plus, 35:11.
